UC Berkeley Supplement went out to 5%

Apparently at around January 18th of this year, UC Berkeley sent out their supplemental applications to Does this mean your application is borderline admission? Yes. They want to know more about you and to elaborate on something you mentioned in your application (hardship, living/studying conditions, inadequate high school facilities and staff, lack of AP classes in your school, special talent, disability, etc). They also will ask for your Fall 2011 final grades and the list of courses you are currently taking in your spring semester. They will also give you the option for your counselor/teacher to send in a letter of recommendation for you (one of the only few times UC requires letters of recommendations, so I would use that chance).
5% of the 61,000 freshman applicants for Fall 2012. I encourage you to answer each question fully and submit it within the 10 days deadline.

This supplement will only help you, not hurt you. It's another chance for you to plead your case and convince them you are worthy of a UC Berkeley education. So check your UC Berkeley My Application portal and check to see if you were sent a supplement. Again, this means you are borderline, and most likely a good chance of admission. [Apparently UCLA and UCSD send supplements too.] Don't panic if you did not get one. March isn't here yet. But if you did, I urge you to submit your answers.

[Thank you fellow mom, Tina P., for bringing this to my attention.]
