The University of California (UCs) online application can be submitted now. You have until November 30, 2011 to submit it online. Note that application fees for
each UC school is $70 and $80 for international students. As SF Mom3 previous blogs mentioned,
apply broadly (i.e. apply to all types of UC schools---the top tier like Berkeley, UCLA and San Diego; the 2nd tier like Irvine, Santa Barbara, Davis, Santa Cruz and the schools with over 60% acceptance rate as in Merced and Riverside [should only apply to one--either Merced or Riverside--as a safety UC school]). Santa Cruz is also known as a safety school having admitted 67.9% last year.
Last year for Fall 2011 applicants to the UC schools, record number of applicants were received at each UC making it more competitive now than several years ago. They say the trend of applicants will increase with Fall 2012.
Just to be safe, it is advisable to apply to as many UCs you can afford if you plan on attending UCs rather than private schools.
